My first post - but one that is long overdue.

Thank you for those out there that are posting nuggets and keeping the music alive for us all. First thing I do in the am is read your posts and it seems to get my day off on the right foot.

So thank you again for the recomendations and the slice of humor that usually comes along with them.

I'm grateful....

You new guys...

...stick around, it gets worse. There's more than just those two.

If you want something to do this morning (besides drink whisky in a "sailor wanna hump-hump bar") Check out the second set of 10-31-79. Crazy set line-up and solid playing and singing. Shakedown is a funky groove you won't soon forget.

BTW - don't bother with the first set - guess the drugs hadn't kicked in yet %-}

Hey rastamon - the only halloween show I was lucky enough to be at was the 1990 one in London. I was listening to it the other day to revisit good memories and it stands up well. I remember Bird Song in the first set being absolutely jaw-dropping, even though Garcia's voice was totally shot. The second set (Scarlet-Fire, Truckin', He's Gone) was none too shabby either. At the time it was hard to know really how good the show was because at that point we were really starved of live Dead over here. Give it a listen if you like, be glad to hear what you think.

And good luck with loving the Scots - its something we haven't quite managed to succeed at ourselves yet.

I don't think Ryan could have meant me when he refererred to 'slices of humor' given that I'm well known aroud these parts as a cantankerous, humorless old haggisbasher and card-carrying member in good standing of the Sarcastic Assholes club. But yes, its good to see some fresh blood.

Haggisbasher? Is that like someone who makes hats out of sheep's stomachs?

"You'll have to excuse me Katherine, I'm off to the haggisbashery to pick up my custom made lambs-bladder derby"

You swine, sir. You realize that I've just had lunch and the picture you conjure up here is not one upon which I wish to dwell.

By heavens you do make me laugh sometimes though :-)

Welcome Ryan...yes, those two, Rob and SDH are entertaining; sometimes even informative, and perhaps most importantly: straightforward in a humorous way.

Greetings, Will! You're too kind, sir, but is that straightforwardly humorous, or humorously straightforward?

Rob-

Where do they teach you to talk like this? In some Panama City "Sailor wanna hump-hump" bar, or is it getaway day and your last shot at his whiskey? Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here :)

Don't like, Charles, don't read, it's that simple. I'll gladly return the favour. It's not like I'd be missing much.

OK, I may think your political stances were born in the stone age amid gatherings of feral huminoids chanting guttural sounds of amazement while gazing in wonder as a lightning bolt set a rotting tree trunk afire. However, your reference to a "sailor wanna hump-hump bar" put me on the floor lauging. Keep 'em coming, by paleolithic friend.

'fraid I don't recall the movie, rasta, or Nicholson's line. So sorry if I missed the fact that you were trying to be 'funny'. From here it looked like you were taking a pop. So chew on whatever feels good going down. :-)

Oh, I remember indeed and that's why I hit the floor laughing. One of my favorite Jack movies. The other stuff in my post was just my normal ranting. Like I said, keep 'em coming.

Thanks for lightening my day a little, I needed that.
